Carbon is one of the most common elements in the universe and is present in all known life and can take several forms, the most notable? A diamond. An internally flawless, colourless, rough stone is truly spectacular and a sight to behold. Yet, it is simply compressed carbon. Atoms so tightly packed together under intense heat and pressure that they form the hardest material known and something truly breathtaking to behold.
Another form of carbon is coal.
coal.photography was born out of a desire to take the every day and make it astonishing; to take something already remarkable and make it extraordinary.

Alexander Legaree
From an early age, cameras have played an integral part in photographer Alexander Legaree's life. Over his years behind the lens his style has continually developed and evolved. His work is garnering national and international attention and has been showcased in Canada, Israel, Sweden, the United Kingdom, and the United States.
With a foundation in landscape photography and a passion for people, Alexander has seen tremendous growth in his art. His home in the North has afforded him the opportunity to capture the pristine arctic tundra, flawless Canadian diamonds, and the enthralling northern lights.
He's had the opportunity to share his world travels to some of the most unique destinations on the in North America, South America, Europe, Asia and the Middle East.
He's collaborated with some of the brightest artists, photographers, videographers, and writers the North has to offer and is continually blending mediums to come up with a distinctive style solely his own.
"Photography has offered me innumerable opportunities to express myself and to share the world as I see it", says Alexander, "the camera has become my voice, the lens my eyes, and the photos my stories."
